The Rostov region anti-crisis communication program

From May to June 2020 Rostov Region Tourist Office has launched the anti-crisis
communication program to promote the Rostov region tourist routes as well as the region’s
tourist brand Free Hearted Donland. The regional travel companies’ leaders and the
«Turakselerator project» expert community has started to work together to develop marketing &
communication solutions and digital channels for promoting local tourist product. The
conference sessions were held in online format.
The discussion of how to make and pack the socio-cultural codes "like a Cossack", "Taganrog
seeds", "Taganrog favelas", "Golden Horse of the Don" into a tourist product was fascinating and
showed that all the regional tourist products can perfectly meet the growing demand for domestic
tourism. An important discovery of the project was the technology of digital packaging and
promotion of information to the final user, understanding the importance of personal
experiences, motives, values and search for a meaning of travel to create an information wave.
This work was the first step in implementing the strategy for promoting the tourist brand and
travel routes of the region and in performing the task to make Rostov-on-Don and the Rostov
region a recognizable and popular destination for domestic tourism. 450 years of the Cossacks,
350 years of Peter the Great, 125 years of M. A. Sholokhov - all these dates contribute to the
spread of interest in the Donland.
