Geography

Rostov region is the southern region of the Russian Federation. This area is located in the lower Don river basin. The South-Eastern part is washed by the waters of the Azov sea. The terrain of the region is flat, and the main natural area is the steppe.

 

Climate

The climate of the region is moderate, the lack of large water resources makes it dry. The average temperature in July – +23 °C, in January -7 °C. The precipitation amount is small - an average of 400-500 mm / year.

 

Customs regime

A tourist can import the following goods into the country duty free:

  • up to 50 cigars or 100 cigarillos, or 200 cigarettes, or 250 grams of tobacco;
  • up to 2 liters of alcoholic beverages;
  • products that cost no more than 65000 rubles with a total weight of no more than 35 kg.

It is prohibited to import and export products containing pornographic content, materials containing elements of official or state secrets, rare species of animals without a permit, as well as samples of weapons and ammunition. It is mandatory to declare precious metals and stones, weapons, ammunition, radioactive, explosive, narcotic, psychotropic, toxic or poisonous substances, strong medicinal products; radio transmitting and receiving complexes with operating frequencies above 9 kHz, as well as artistic and cultural values.

 

Currency

Ruble. Currency exchange can be carried out in banks, as well as in exchange offices located at the airport and in major retail outlets in cities.

 

Tips

The tip system applies to waiters in bars and restaurants, maids in hotels, taxi drivers and guides and is 5-10% of the order price. Tipping is not mandatory, but if the customer is satisfied with the service, tipping is a sign of good form.

 

Transport

Bus services are well developed in Russian cities. Trams, trolley buses and taxis are also available. Tickets for travel can be purchased in the transport itself (from the controller or driver). There are several companies that provide taxi services. To order a taxi, you can use the Uber or Yandex app.taxi, or ask the reception manager to call a taxi for you.

  • where it happened (the address of the call clearly and legibly);
  • please provide your first and last name.

To contact emergency services should be only in case of urgent need of assistance. Otherwise a fine will be applied.

 

Medicine

During your stay in Russia you can apply to a medical institution with the below documents:

  • policy of the obligatory medical insurance;
  • insurance services included in the tour package.
  • To get free medical care, you must contact the phone numbers specified in the insurance company's medical policy;
  • When applying to medical institutions without a referral from an insurance company, the tourist pays for the services themselves, or on the basis of the obligatory medical insurance policy.
